I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. (Ephesians 3:16)
Remember that Paul is praying from the fact that God is our Father and all powerful. In light of that, he prays that God empower us through His Spirit from His glorious and unlimited resources. Now that's deep. God's resources with which we are empowered are glorious and unlimited! Our supply of spiritual strength is from a supreme source!
From the context of this passage, Paul is essentially praying for spiritual growth and maturity in Christ. Part of spiritual maturity is inner spiritual strength. What's the essence of this strength? Why did Paul pray that the Ephesians be empowered with inner strength through God's Spirit from God's glorious, unlimited resources?
It takes this inner strength to be followers and witnesses of Christ in this world. This verse is in direct contrast with Acts 1:8: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Spiritual empowerment comes when the Spirit comes upon us. The Holy Spirit is the supply of God's glorious, unlimited resources.
No Christian lacks power or ability. We all have it (though in different measure) because of the Spirit. Anytime you feel weak or you feel you cannot do what you're suppose to do, think about this verse and pray for inner supernatural strength. You have the Holy Spirit. He's your supply. And the source of the supply is glorious and unlimited.
Doing the Word
Pray for inner supernatural strength.
Confession
I have the Holy Spirit living in me. He is my source and supply of God's glorious and unlimited resources. I do not lack strength. My strength is unlimited and it is glorious. Hallelujah!
