By God’s grace and mighty power, I have been given the privilege of serving him by spreading this Good News. (Ephesians 3:7)
It is both surprising and humbling to read to this. Paul cease not to amaze me. I admire his strength, his humility, his wisdom, his love for Christ and His eternal purpose and plan, his attitude, and his passion for the glory of God in the Gospel. Paul did not only saw him as one who was empowered by the grace and power of God to serve God, he saw it as a privilege!
Paul is writing this letter from a prison cell. He is in chains for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For him it was a privilege.
Brethren, the ministry is a privilege. To serve God by any other means other than a Christian ministry is also a privilege. In fact, for a Christian all of life is ministry. It is service to God and man. Our very life is ministry. All that we do, no matter what we do, is commanded to be done as if we are doing it for God. All that we do is service to God. We must have this attitude that it is a privilege to do it for God.
That is why all that we do should be done by God's grace and mighty power. It takes God to serve God. This is Paul's secret. His success in life and ministry was that he served God from His grace and power. I recently read that ministry requires spiritual life. That's it. We need grace and power daily to serve. Grace to keep us humble since the place of service is the place of humility. We need that daily supply of spiritual power to serve because by our strength we cannot make progress in meaningful work.
Doing the Word
Cultivate the attitude of humility.
Prayer
Dear Father, You give grace to those who are humble. It is a great privilege to serve You. Give me power to serve today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
